Development prospect of photovoltaic inverter

Photovoltaic inverter is the application of power electronics technology in the field of solar power generation. The technical level of the industry is closely related to the development of power electronic devices, circuit topology, special processor chip technology, magnetic material technology and control theory technology. From 2005 to 2010, the global PV inverter market size increased from 1.07 billion US dollars to 7.18 billion US dollars, with a compound annual growth rate of 46.3%. The development of solar PV industry in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America is the main driving force for the growth of PV inverter market. According to the monitoring data in the 2013-2017 Global PV Inverter Industry Market Outlook and Investment Strategic Planning Analysis Report [1], the newly installed PV capacity in China was only 20 MW in 2007, and by 2010, the newly installed PV capacity in China was about 520 MW, more than twice that of 228 MW in 2009. In 2011, China's new installed capacity reached 2.9GW, ranking fourth in the world. It is predicted that the demand for PV inverters in China will reach 5.0GW in 2015 and 10GW in 2020. During the "11th Five Year Plan" period in China, PV power generation supporting equipment such as inverters were mostly in the R&D and innovation stage, and received less policy attention. During the "Twelfth Five Year Plan" period, the trend of the photovoltaic power generation market is to develop towards the whole industry chain. Supporting equipment other than crystalline silicon and modules will receive further attention from the market and policy. The NDRC's inclusion of inverters in the encouraged category of the guidance catalog is a reflection of this trend. In 2010, China's PV grid connected capacity reached 500 MW, and the inverter market was about 500 million yuan. At present, the domestic PV installed capacity target for the "12th Five Year Plan" has been significantly raised to 10GW, doubling the target previously announced. Assuming that all these installed units are connected to the grid, it is estimated that the domestic inverter market will reach 10 billion yuan by 2015 based on the cost of 1 yuan/watt.
